About

8 million men

in the UK have Erectile Dysfunction (ED)*

And 1 in 3 UK men experience some degree of ED.*

Many men who experience ED may delay seeking treatment due to embarrassment and fear of the impact on their sex lives or relationships. Thankfully, there are effective treatments to help you.

*Estimated from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) 2021 UK population data and Irrational quantitative survey 2021, where 3,445 (i.e. 34%) of 10,197 adult men qualified or identified as suffering from Erectile Dysfunction.

What exactly causes Erectile Dysfunction?

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) happens when you have trouble getting or keeping an erection hard enough for sex.

It occurs when the blood vessels in your penis are narrowed. Cialis® Together works to widen those blood vessels, which helps you get and keep an erection naturally when sexually aroused.

90% of men with ED have at least one underlying physical cause for their problem. Some of these could include:

  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Diabetes
  • Hormone problems and drugs
  • Neurological disorders
  • High cholesterol

A psychological component, often called "performance anxiety", is common in men with ED. However, a purely psychological problem is seen in only 10% of them.

In some instances, ED can be a sign of other health conditions, so if you are concerned please consult with your GP.

Truth is, ED is treatable

Men everywhere are seeing how the benefits of treating ED play out in their sexual fulfilment and intimate relationships. Now, Cialis® Together is available over-the-counter at your pharmacy to treat men with ED.

To see if Cialis® Together is suitable for you, fill out a checklist and consult with a pharmacist.

ED & healthy lifestyle tips

Leading a healthier lifestyle can reduce your risk of heart disease, among other health issues, and may even improve your erection function. Try to:

Eat fewer fatty foods and more grilled or baked foods.

Maintain a healthy weight by eating 30g of high fibre foods, like beans and pulses, to help you feel full longer.

Be physically active through strength training or by walking 30 minutes a day.

Eat at least 5 portions of your favourite fruits and vegetables every day.

Cut down on alcohol – consume less than 14 units per week and try having several drink-free days every week.

Avoid smoking triggers.

Consult your doctor before making any changes to your lifestyle or level of physical activity.

Frequently asked questions about erection difficulties

HOW CAN I TELL IF I’M EXPERIENCING ERECTION DIFFICULTIES?

Common ways to tell if you’re having erection difficulties include:

  • Getting an erection that isn’t hard enough for sex
  • Getting an erection that doesn’t last long enough for sex
  • Getting an erection only sometimes or not at all

Keep in mind that some men experience erection difficulties occasionally, while others may experience them more regularly. Either way, it’s always best to talk to a GP or pharmacist for an informed second opinion.

ARE ERECTION DIFFICULTIES PERMANENT?

The bottom line is that ED won’t just go away on its own. That’s why it’s important not to ignore the potential signs of ED. If you have any concerns please refer to your pharmacist or GP.

I’M NOT YET 40. CAN I STILL EXPERIENCE ERECTION DIFFICULTIES?

Men in their 20s and 30s are not exempt from experiencing erection difficulties. 1 in 4 men in the UK who experience ED are under 40.1

1. Estimated from Irrational Agency quantitative survey 2021, where 3,445 (e.i. 34%) of 10,197 adult men qualified or identified as suffering from Erectile Dysfunction, approximately 25% men were aged 18 to 39yrs.

CAN TIGHT UNDERWEAR CAUSE ERECTION DIFFICULTIES?

Not necessarily. But if you want to avoid frequent compression of your testicles, try wearing loose-fitting trousers.

CAN MASTURBATION CAUSE ERECTION DIFFICULTIES?

If you are masturbating excessively (several times in an hour), then you may have some problems getting an erection due to exhaustion. Masturbating once or twice a day, however, is quite normal and highly unlikely to cause ED.

HOW DO I KNOW IF IT'S ED OR JUST A ONE-OFF?

If you have had problems getting a full erection once or twice, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have Erectile Dysfunction. However, it's definitely something worth discussing with your pharmacist. Pharmacists are highly trained professionals who will be able to identify if you might have ED. A diagnosis of ED can also be made by a GP who would have access to your medical history.
